NEW Valentine's Day Bibs

I always strive to be one hundred percent honest when it comes to my products, so I have to tell you that these are not the high quality terry cloth I have come to expect when making my bibs. They sure are cute, and will do the job, but not as well as my other bibs. {Hence the discounted price}
Apparently Valentine Tip Towels are a rare commodity and I had to search high and low to even find these.
I hope you like them - I think they'll add a little love to your baby's Valentine's Day.

Thrifty Thursday: Homemade Diaper Wipes

Buying disposable wipes can get pretty pricey! I have started saving a small fortune by making my own wipes, and it’s not as hard as you might think!

Home made diaper wipes do not take long to make, and at a cost of 50 cents a box, you’ll be so proud of your frugality!

Here’s the recipe:

1 roll of paper towels
2 T. baby oil
2 T. baby bath or shampoo
2 cups boiled water, then cooled OR distilled water
Old diaper wipe container (any airtight container will do)

Each roll of paper towels will make two boxes of wipes. Tear apart the towels and fold them to fit into the box.

Mix the remaining ingredients in a large measuring cup. Place half of the towels in the box, then slowly pour the liquid over the towels, making sure to cover them evenly. Then add the remaining towels and pour the remaining liquid over them.

After the towels have set for a short while, they will absorb the liquid more evenly and will keep fresh for several weeks.

Be proud of yourself for saving money, but more than anything else enjoy that precious little baby, they grow up so fast! Sing songs or nursery rhymes while changing those diapers, make the most of every moment you have together.

Tutorial Tuesday: Cloth Baby Shoes

Aren't these the cutest shoes you've ever seen? And apparently even the novice seamstress can put them together using this easy tutorial which Joanna has so graciously made available to us.

It doesn't take much to make these shoes...just scraps of fabric, some interfacing, and elastic. The only thing that might be hard to find is the bonded fleece for the sole. It's suede on one side and fleece on the other. {It can be found at Joanne Fabrics}

The Cloth Dilemma

So I am online at 12:32 a.m. and don't know if my mommy brain is working quite right, so I'm counting on all you women out there to give me your opinion straight. I am seriously considering switching to cloth diapers {for the following reasons, lest you think this is a whim}

* From the research I have done, cleaning them is really not that bad, and they smell less.
* Come on, it really is better for the environment, though I'm no tree hugger.
* I'm thinking fleece has to feel better on those little sweet cheeks, more so than cotton plastic crap - also around their legs.
* Cloth diapers have better airflow, which means less diaper rash.
* It may be a lot of money upfront, but it will save me at least $230 this year alone, not to mention the years and additional babies to come.
* I can buy them wholesale using my business license, giving me an even greater savings.
* Cloth diapers have been known to help potty train sooner.

New Years

At the beginning of the year it is common practice to make goals and start working to achieve them. As I started to think about what I wanted to accomplish, I realized how blessed and fortunate I am.
